Unima Cancellation, Return and Refund Policy
This is a reference translation. If there is any discrepancy between this translation and the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.
1. Basic Policy
On Unima, the basic rule is that the seller and the buyer meet in person to check and hand over the item.
Buyers should check the condition of the item before receiving it.
Tell the seller the handover code only after you have checked the item and completed receiving it.
Before the seller approves a purchase request, the buyer can withdraw the request, and the seller can decline the request or withdraw the listing itself. If a listing is withdrawn, all requests for it that have not yet been approved are declined. In none of these cases is anyone charged.
2. Cancellation After Purchase and Before Handover
Cancellation after purchase and before handover is done by requesting it in the app and having the Unima team approve it. A request alone does not cancel the deal; the deal is canceled when the Unima team approves the request. The Unima team does not notify the other party that a request was made or that it was not approved. A request can be withdrawn before the Unima team makes a decision.
Once the purchase procedure is complete, cancellation based only on the one-sided convenience of the buyer or the seller is, as a rule, not allowed.
When canceling, choose one of the following reasons in the app and confirm that you understand its content.
Both parties agreed to cancel.
The other party cannot be reached.
A date and time for the handover cannot be agreed.
The item has been lost, damaged or similar and can no longer be handed over.
The item is significantly different from the listing description.
The item is suspected to be counterfeit, stolen, a prohibited item or similar.
There is a safety concern about meeting the other party.
Any other case equivalent to the above.
Repeated cancellations without reason may lead to restrictions on your use of the Service. You can check the number of your recent cancellations in the app.
After the seller has reported the handover of the item in the app, cancellation under this section is not possible. If there is a problem after the handover, follow the procedure in Section 4 or Section 6.
3. No-Shows
If the other party does not appear at the agreed handover place, contact them through in-app messages.
If you still cannot reach them after a certain amount of time, you may leave for your safety.
We may issue warnings, restrict features, suspend use or take similar measures against users who repeatedly fail to show up or who cancel at the last minute in bad faith.
4. If There Is a Problem With the Item at the Handover
At the handover, receive and check the item, and only then tell the seller the handover code right there. If there is a problem, do not tell them the code; discuss it with the seller on the spot. The deal is completed and the price is finalized when the seller enters the code.
In cases such as the following, the buyer should not tell the handover code and should discuss it with the seller.
The item is different from the one listed.
There is serious damage not mentioned in the description.
Major accessories are missing.
A function described in the listing does not work.
The item is suspected to be counterfeit.
The item is suspected to be stolen.
The item is a prohibited item.
If the problem is not resolved, report it to the Unima team.
5. Cancellations and Returns for the Buyer's Own Reasons
As a rule, a cancellation request based only on the buyer's own convenience will not be approved.
As a rule, we do not allow cancellations or returns for the buyer's own reasons, such as the following.
It was different from what I expected.
I didn't check the color or size.
I no longer need it.
I bought a different item.
I was bothered by scratches or signs of use that were described.
I told the handover code without checking the item properly myself.
6. After the Deal Is Completed
When the seller enters the handover code, the deal is completed and the price is finalized (charged).
However, if a serious defect that was difficult to find in a normal check, a counterfeit, a stolen item or another serious problem comes to light, contact the Unima team promptly.
For 72 hours after a deal is completed, you can report to us using "Report a problem after the deal" on the deal screen in the app. If you want our support (relaying communication between the parties, checking the situation and similar), report within this period and as soon as you become aware of the problem.
These 72 hours are only the period for accepting reports through the app's feature, and are not a deadline for the rights between the parties under the law (such as liability for non-conformity with the contract). Even after 72 hours have passed, rights under the law do not automatically expire, and the parties can try to resolve the matter directly with each other.
Where the seller has reported the handover and the review under Article 10 of the Terms of Service is carried out without the buyer confirming receipt, if that review is not completed by the authorization expiry, the deal ends and the authorization is released (the buyer is not charged). This case is also handled in the same way as a cancellation.
7. How to Return Items
The Service does not offer handover of items by delivery.
If an item needs to be returned, it is, as a rule, returned in person on campus.
If there is a safety problem or other special circumstance, consult the Unima team.
8. Refunds
A cancellation before the deal is completed is carried out by releasing the authorization (reservation of available credit), and the buyer is not charged. In this case, no payment of the price has been made, so no refund procedure is needed.
If, after the deal is completed (after the price is finalized), we determine that a refund is necessary because of a serious defect or similar, we refund the full finalized price to the buyer by the method designated by us or the payment provider. The sales fee is not deducted. In this case, we do not receive the sales fee for the deal concerned.
The number of days until a refund appears on the user's card or similar may differ depending on the payment provider and financial institution.
For a refunded deal, the earnings the seller would receive (the price minus the sales fee) are canceled. If they have not yet been paid out (transferred), we deduct them from the amount scheduled for payout. If they have already been paid out, we may deduct them from future payouts and may ask the seller to return them or to cooperate as otherwise necessary.
9. Cancellation by the Unima Team
The Unima team may cancel a deal without the consent of both parties in the following cases.
A violation of the law or the Terms of Service
A deal for a prohibited item
Fraudulent payment
Suspected fraud or trading in stolen goods
Where necessary to protect users' safety
Any other case that seriously interferes with the normal operation of the Service
